NEED
TO KNOW
| • |
Benzoyl
peroxide 4% is a highly effective antibacterial against
Propionibacterium acnes. It is also a mild keratolytic
that helps prevent comedone formation. |
| • |
Niacinamide
2% in recent US studies has been established as an
effective topical therapeutic in acne. While the exact
mechanisms are currently being elucidated, it appears
that niacinamide may have the capacity to down-regulate
excess sebum production. |
| • |
Kunzea
extract 1% is a natural calming agent that helps reduce
the severity of lesions as well as background erythema. |
| • |
Menthyl
lactate 1% is a soothing, cooling emollient. |
PRODUCT
USAGE
| • |
Clarifying
Serum is most effective when used as a prophylactic
(i.e. a small amount applied all over areas prone
to breakouts.) |
| • |
May
also be used as a “spot treatment” on
existing acne lesions. |
| • |
Clarifying
Serum is concentrated and should only be used sparingly.
5 drops is sufficient for the entire face and neck
area. |
| • |
For
best results, patients should use the Clarifying
Serum in conjunction with Rationale Preparatory
Cleanser, Rejuvenating Serum and Neutraliser Concealer
SPF25 (for day) and Skin Refining Serum (at night).
Always apply the Clarifying Serum first to affected
areas, followed by other products. |
| • |
The
Clarifying Serum should be allowed to dry for a
few minutes before applying Skin Refining Serum
at night. Patients may experience a stronger and
more prolonged stinging sensation when using these
two products together. |
| • |
Benzoyl
peroxide may cause irritation, especially in the
first few weeks of treatment. Treatment may be
commenced slowly (alternate nights if necessary)
to decrease the risk of irritation. If irritation
is prolonged or pronounced, discontinue use and
seek medical advice. |
| • |
The
product contains benzoyl peroxide which
may cause bleaching of clothes and
fabrics. |
Rationale products are available from Mr Banwell's clinic please email for further details.
