Paul Banwell’s chin liposuction procedure will target excess fat to help redefine the jawline and create a more sculpted and youthful appearance.
It’s particularly beneficial for individuals who struggle with a double chin or excess fat accumulation in the neck and chin area, which can be resistant to diet and exercise.
Before undergoing chin liposuction, you should have a consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals, medical history and any potential risks or complications associated with chin lipo.
During your procedure, your surgeon will make small incisions either under your chin or behind your ears through which a thin tube called a cannula is inserted.
The cannula will be used for the fat removal – to suction out the unwanted fat deposits, contouring the chin and neck area in the process.
Paul Banwell usually performs liposuction surgery under general anaesthetic however it may be possible to perform chin lipo under a local anaesthetic.
The procedure should take around one hour although it will depend on the amount of fat removal involved.
You can expect some swelling, bruising and discomfort after your chin liposuction treatment in London, which should subside within a week or two.
You will be given some post-operative instructions to follow, which may include wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling, avoiding strenuous activities and taking prescribed medications for pain relief and to prevent infection.
Length of recovery can vary, but most patients can return to their normal activities within a week, although strenuous exercise may need to be avoided for at least two weeks.
It can take several months for the final results to become fully apparent, as the swelling subsides and the skin tightens so we do advise our London clients to be patient.
Chin liposuction will permanently remove excess fat however it’s important to note that liposuction surgery is not a procedure to lose weight. It can be used to remove areas of stubborn fat however subsequent fat cells can form even after treatment.

My expectations were fully met when I went to see Mr Banwell for the first time and he went through very carefully what he would be doing and giving me a realistic prognosis which was what I wanted. He came over as a very thorough and caring person. The skin graft was a complete success and although quite a large area, it is exceptionally neat and gives me no concern. I was referred to Mr Paul Banwell in February 2010 when I was diagnosed with an advanced melanoma in the lymph nodes in my left groin.
