Mole Removal Kent

Paul Banwell mole removalMoles are mostly harmless, but there are several reasons people choose to opt for mole removal in Kent with Paul Banwell.

Moles can be uncomfortable, snag on clothing, get cut while shaving or combing hair, or simply rub. And some moles can be unsightly and lead to lower self-confidence and self-esteem.

Paul Banwell is an award-winning, internationally trained plastic surgeon who specialises in mole removal in Kent, London and the south east of England. He makes frequent media appearances as a leading voice in the field, and his team at the Banwell Clinic in Kent are considered international experts in skin health and state-of-the-art skin treatments, including mole removal with minimal scarring.

Why get a mole removed?

Some moles are “beauty spots”, but others may look unattractive and be a source of concern. The same may apply to small birthmarks, skin tags, warts, cysts, papillomas and other lumps and bumps on the skin which need removing – all of which can be addressed at one of Mr Banwell’s clinics.

Most moles are harmless, and harmless moles are not usually treated on the NHS. In other instances, the removal might be for medical reasons.

Either way, Mr Banwell can assess any mole and perform an excision biopsy before sending the sample off to a laboratory for analysis. His regular clinics in Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and Westerham are an ideal opportunity to get a mole examined and, if necessary, removed.

When should you be worried about a mole?

Moles can vary in colour, size and shape – and can also change their appearance over time. It is important to know if they are a cause for concern or purely cosmetic blemishes.

Moles are usually circular and brown, though they can be flesh coloured, pink, black or blue. If they occur over a hair follicle then the mole may have a hair growing through it, which is typically darker than other hairs.

More than the type of mole, of greater concern is when they start to change – perhaps growing bigger, changing colour or becoming itchy and starting to scab or bleed.

Moles that are changing or have changed in appearance should be checked out, whether by a GP or at a clinic such as Mr Banwell’s.

The risk is that a changing mole can be a sign of developing melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Early action and removal of the entire mole is recommended in such circumstances.

How moles are removed

Shave excision is a simple procedure, by which moles can often be removed without the need for stitches or cutting the skin. This can be done under localised anaesthetic and has a very short recovery period.

In some cases, the entire mole is removed – this is called a mole excision biopsy, with a sample then sent away in the lab unless it is a purely cosmetic procedure with no cause for concern.

Mr Banwell uses both of these techniques to remove moles, skin tags and birthmarks at his clinics in Kent, London and across south east England.

Moles on the face and neck respond best to treatment. Elsewhere on the body it is common for there to be a small patch of lighter coloured skin where the mole once was. Of course, this is still preferable to an unsightly mole.

Aftercare following mole removal

It can take as little as 15 minutes to have a mole removed at one of Mr Barnwell’s Kent clinics, and the process rarely takes longer than an hour.

Afterwards, you can carry on as normal although strenuous exercise should be avoided for one to two weeks. The mole will have a dressing on which can get wet through washing – but not soaked through swimming or long baths.

If you’ve had stitches as part of the procedure they will be taken out after one or two weeks. Alternatively if the mole was shaved off, the dressing will simply fall off in due time.

Mole removal in Kent – costs

Mole removal at one of Mr Banwell’s Kent clinics currently costs from £320. This secures the services of a highly experienced surgeon, with scarring either nonexistent or minimised as much as possible.

After deciding to go down the surgery route I contact Mr Banwell’s team and was dealt with quickly and efficiently but most of all everyone was so friendly and helpful which put me at ease. The care from start to finish and still on-going was 110% and everyone who I dealt with was fantastic. Mr Banwell was always professional and friendly and put me at ease from the very beginning. I am so pleased with my results and putting myself in Mr Banwell’s care was the best thing I could have done. It has completely changed my life and I can’t thank you all enough. I have already recommended you to my aunty! Thanks again.

I liked what was written about Mr Banwell and that he was a family man with lots of experience specialising in the operation I wanted. All my expectations were met and at my consultations any worried and questions were answered. I felt Mr Banwell took away any worries I had and has a very kind manner. I would recommend Mr Banwell and say that you are in a high standard of care and well looked after. I had an enjoyable time and was looked after in every way and Mr Banwell and his team are professional in every way.

Thank you so much for doing an amazing job on my breast enlargement.

My whole experience was made comfortable by warm, friendly and welcoming nursing staff. Mr Banwell has a lovely bedside manner and was more than happy to discuss my worried however strange. At 37 years of age and after 4 children I never thought I would have the tummy of an 18 year old again, Mr Banwell is a very clever man.

I went to see Mr Banwell to get reassurance about the moles and blemishes which have been steadily growing since I was a young adult. 30 years ago we were not aware of the dangers of the sun and burning on holiday way an annual ritual. Thankfully we are all now aware that the sun damage can cause skin cancer and the changes in my moles mean I have a precautionary approach, particularly as older family members have had tumours removed. Paul knows exactly what he was looking for and studied each and every mole methodically. The two he highlighted for treatment were two of the least innocuous (in my opinion) which surprised me. Clearly to the trained eye they needed removal. I have since had an excision of one and due to have photo dynamic therapy treatment for the small red mark on my nose later this year. Without seeing Paul, this minor irritation would have been left and could possibly have created problems later in life. I advocate regular checks for anyone with moles and skin blemishes. The technology now is so impressive and it makes absolutely sense to take full advantage of Paul’s expertise.

The consultation was conducted quickly, professionally but Mr Banwell also made me feel as if any question I may have wouldn’t not be too small or insignificant for him to take the time to answer. He left me feeling fully informed with both the pros and cons of any form of elective surgery but also that my worries were normal and that he would be able to assist me with my desired outcomes. His team were caring and professional making me feel that they were actually interested and were able to accommodate my dates when making the initial consultation booking. Prompt returning of calls, flexibility in booking of appointments friendliness, informative, caring and professional from the initial telephone call, the surgery, follow up appointments right through to my final appointment made me feel that my care, personal views and worries were important to them at all times. You can trust him to always be honest with you about the possible problems and outcomes. Overall experience with Mr Banwell and his team? Amazing! I just wish I’d not waited so many years to have this procedure done; I have my life back and it’s amazing to be able to walk into any shop and buy clothes that fit in my actual size and not 5 dress sizes larger just to fit my bust in. With the Upper Blepharoplasty everyone in my family says that I now look so much brighter and not tired, others I meet just tell me I look really great and ask if I’ve just had a holiday. Mr Banwell Thank You for all that you did for me.
