Moles are mostly harmless, but there are several reasons people choose to opt for mole removal in Kent with Paul Banwell.
Moles can be uncomfortable, snag on clothing, get cut while shaving or combing hair, or simply rub. And some moles can be unsightly and lead to lower self-confidence and self-esteem.
Paul Banwell is an award-winning, internationally trained plastic surgeon who specialises in mole removal in Kent, London and the south east of England. He makes frequent media appearances as a leading voice in the field, and his team at the Banwell Clinic in Kent are considered international experts in skin health and state-of-the-art skin treatments, including mole removal with minimal scarring.

Some moles are “beauty spots”, but others may look unattractive and be a source of concern. The same may apply to small birthmarks, skin tags, warts, cysts, papillomas and other lumps and bumps on the skin which need removing – all of which can be addressed at one of Mr Banwell’s clinics.
Most moles are harmless, and harmless moles are not usually treated on the NHS. In other instances, the removal might be for medical reasons.
Either way, Mr Banwell can assess any mole and perform an excision biopsy before sending the sample off to a laboratory for analysis. His regular clinics in Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks and Westerham are an ideal opportunity to get a mole examined and, if necessary, removed.
Moles can vary in colour, size and shape – and can also change their appearance over time. It is important to know if they are a cause for concern or purely cosmetic blemishes.
Moles are usually circular and brown, though they can be flesh coloured, pink, black or blue. If they occur over a hair follicle then the mole may have a hair growing through it, which is typically darker than other hairs.
More than the type of mole, of greater concern is when they start to change – perhaps growing bigger, changing colour or becoming itchy and starting to scab or bleed.
Moles that are changing or have changed in appearance should be checked out, whether by a GP or at a clinic such as Mr Banwell’s.
The risk is that a changing mole can be a sign of developing melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Early action and removal of the entire mole is recommended in such circumstances.
Shave excision is a simple procedure, by which moles can often be removed without the need for stitches or cutting the skin. This can be done under localised anaesthetic and has a very short recovery period.
In some cases, the entire mole is removed – this is called a mole excision biopsy, with a sample then sent away in the lab unless it is a purely cosmetic procedure with no cause for concern.
Mr Banwell uses both of these techniques to remove moles, skin tags and birthmarks at his clinics in Kent, London and across south east England.
Moles on the face and neck respond best to treatment. Elsewhere on the body it is common for there to be a small patch of lighter coloured skin where the mole once was. Of course, this is still preferable to an unsightly mole.
It can take as little as 15 minutes to have a mole removed at one of Mr Barnwell’s Kent clinics, and the process rarely takes longer than an hour.
Afterwards, you can carry on as normal although strenuous exercise should be avoided for one to two weeks. The mole will have a dressing on which can get wet through washing – but not soaked through swimming or long baths.
If you’ve had stitches as part of the procedure they will be taken out after one or two weeks. Alternatively if the mole was shaved off, the dressing will simply fall off in due time.
Mole removal at one of Mr Banwell’s Kent clinics currently costs from £320. This secures the services of a highly experienced surgeon, with scarring either nonexistent or minimised as much as possible.

I was treated with the utmost care and respect and the team were very kind and supportive. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I am very pleased with the results of my surgery and would thoroughly recommend to others.
During the time I have been in the care of Paul and the team I have been treated extremely well and very professionally, I could not have asked for better care. Paul was extremely caring and considerate throughout this time and has put me at ease during any procedures that I have had carried out. I trust his judgement completely and recommended Paul to a close family member who had a similar problem.
The surgery is very neat with minimal scarring.
Dear Mr Banwell I am writing to thank you, Kim and the rest of the lovely staff at the McIndoe. I was very nervous when I first met you, about having surgery but realised that it was a necessary evil. I need not have been worried, as from our initial consultation to surgery to full recovery, you have all been amazing. You have changed my life – for the first time ever I have had some photos taken of me and my children. I stand taller and feel so much happier with life. I have even started my own business. I never realised that it would have had such a profound effect – and it didn’t hurt!! Thank you again. I wish you and your team lots of health, luck and happiness.
Mr Banwell and his team were really great. They were friendly, professional and love to deal with. Mr Banwell did amazing work for me and I’m absolutely delighted with the outcome. I would highly recommend Mr Banwell to anyone who is thinking about breast augmentation.
I thought the team were helpful and efficient because they helped me to schedule my appointments around my working hours. They were always at hand to discuss any questions I had with a friendly and professional manor. Mr Banwell was amazing. He was totally honest and helped me decide which type of breast implant and procedure to have. We talked through my torrent of questions and concerns with ease. He asked me how I wanted my breast to look and I said I wanted them as natural as possible and that is exactly what I got. My new breasts have certainly made me feel more confident with ym body. I previously felt inadequate in the breast area and now I can?t stop smiling! I am so pleased with the outcome I only wish I?d done it sooner. The operation certainly wasn?t as scary as I thought it would be and I was looked after with the utmost care.
