Your recovery after surgery to increase your breast size

Depending on the complexity of the procedure, you may stay in the hospital overnight or go home on the same day as your breast surgery.

Your chest area will be swollen and sore after your breast augmentation surgery, but any discomfort will be managed with prescribed pain relief.

You will return to the clinic after a week so we can check the progress of your healing, and then for follow-up appointments at 2 weeks, 8 weeks, and 6 months.

It is vital that you get enough rest after your surgery, ease into normal activities gradually, and wait a few weeks before doing strenuous exercise.

You will need to wear a surgical bra or a tightly fitting sports bra for eight weeks to support the implants as they settle.

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants do not last a lifetime, and the requirement for further procedures is part of the decision-making process.

Most patients have their implants replaced after between 8 and 16 years.
