Mr Banwell supports BAAPS moves to regulate advertising

10th November 2012

Mr Paul Banwell, a member of BAAPS, supports the Association’s moves towards regulating unscrupulous cosmetic surgery advertising. A 12 point plan includes a proposed ban/prohibition of financial inducements, time-limited offers and use of imagery using photoshopped models. Mr Banwell comments: ” I think these ideas and suggestions are welcomed by fully-accredited Plastic Surgeons; I believe patients are patients and not so-called ‘clients’ which has connotations of a business services and disregards this important confidential bond. Investigation of the erosion of this doctor-patient relationship status and replacement by the introduction of aggressive business marketing techniques is welcomed”.
